The child of avid horse lovers, Beezie Madden grew up visiting the stable every day, beginning riding aged four in the school where her parents boarded their horses. Many years later, Beezie enjoys an outstanding career profile, with highlights including winning team Gold and individual Bronze at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Since then she has continued to shine, winning team Gold and individual Silver at the Guadalajara Pan American Games in 2011 alone.
Despite this track record, success hasn’t gone to her head, and Beezie’s influences have remained close to home. She cites her husband John, who helps her with training and managing the horses, as her biggest inspiration. Her advice to other riders is to “learn all aspects of horsemanship. No job is beneath you when you are growing up.” She is very much looking forward to GCT this year and believes it is raising the bar in showjumping.
