Meet This Week’s GCL Home Team: The Shanghai Swans

Get ready to cheer on the Shanghai Swans, as the Longines Global Champions Tour celebrates the tour’s highly anticipated return to Shanghai. The Shanghai Swans will find themselves competing in front of their home crowd for the first time since 2019.

A part of the GCL since its inception in 2016, the Shanghai Swans have had their share of impressive results. In 2019, the team won the GCL Super Cup Final at the GC Prague Playoffs in a tightly fought battle to the top. The team once again found themselves knocking on the door of the championship podium with a fourth place finish in the GCL Championships in 2019. 2021 saw the team take the second step on the championship podium, coming in second behind Valkenswaard United. With a fourth place finish in the 2022 championship race, Shanghai Swans are looking to regain their form for 2024. The relatively unchanged team’s most recent podium was at the GCL of Riesenbeck in 2023 where the team earned a comfortable third place finish.

Again anchored by returning members Max Kühner, Christian Ahlmann, Daniel Deusser, Samuel Hutton, and U25 young-gun, Jeanne Sadran, the Shanghai Swans see the return of Pius Schwizer to the fold, having started with the team back in 2018.
