Hall of Fame: Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Shanghai

Final preparations are underway to welcome horses and riders to the newly built Shanghai Juss International Equestrian Centre. As we count down to the next stage of the Longines Global Champions Tour, we look back on the memorable moments that have unfolded in the vibrant city of Shanghai and shine a spotlight on the LGCT Shanghai Hall of Fame.

Ten years ago, when the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Shanghai launched back in 2014, the first ever Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix podium in Shanghai saw the top spot go to Belgium’s Pieter Devos and Dream of India Greenfield.

In 2015, the win was captured by Dutch sensation Harrie Smolders riding Regina Z. While in 2016 the victory went to Saudi Arabia’s Abdullah Alsharbatly who put in two clear rounds aboard Tobalio. In 2017 Lorenzo de Luca piloted his mount Ensor de Litrange LXII to the top spot on the podium.

2018 saw the trophy being handed back to Belgium as Gregory Wathelet and Coree put in a flawless round in Shanghai. And in 2019 it was Israel’s Dani G. Waldman and Lizziemary who edged out the competition by less than half a second to take the top spot.

2024 sees the return of the Longines Global Champions Tour to Shanghai after a four year hiatus due to COVID-19 restrictions. As we celebrate the return of the tour to China, we eagerly await to learn who will be crowned the winner of the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Shanghai 2024.
